Small Refrigerators: Perfect For Smaller Spaces Around Your Home

Small refrigerators might be the perfect fit for many houses, apartments and places of work but often get overlooked as a viable solution. While it would be easy to jest and suggest that small refrigerators are overlooked due to their diminutive size, that may actually have some basis in fact. Regardless of why small refrigerators are not as common as one would expect, there are plenty of good reasons for households and businesses to use refrigerators typically thought of as only suitable for RVs and boats.

For homes and apartments there might be one of two general situations that could potentially exist in which small refrigerators can lend a helping hand: personal items and/or the overflow of the main refrigerator. People sharing a house with roommates or family members may have their own unique tastes that could be best served by adding a small refrigerator or two in an relatively small area of their bedroom or office. Anything from a favorite soda to midnight snack or even leftovers would ideally be stored in an area out of the way of the other occupants of the house or apartment. It is also worth noting that sports drinks or other potentially harmful substances can be kept under a personal lock and key in a small refrigerator located in a tiny corner or nook of one’s room or office.

Of course there are times when the main refrigerator is full and one simply needs to store food in multiple places. This is especially true when one is a member of a discount club that only offers products in large quantities. This is especially true for frozen foods or anything that one needs to store for long periods of time.

One of the most common complaints in offices is that of stolen lunches. Finding the culprit in a large or medium sized business can be virtually impossible but by purchasing each group or department its own small refrigerator that can be stored in their area of operation in plain sight may help curtail this problem significantly. Lower employee lunch theft can lead to better peer bonding and cohesion in some instances, but at the minimum it will make sure that fewer employees are working on an empty stomach.

Small refrigerators range from slightly under two cubic feet to well over four cubic feet in interior volume and some offer various compartments with different temperature controls. The result of so many differences in design and options is that small refrigerators can cost under $40 to well over $350 depending on features, size, brand, quality and where one chooses to buy. It should be noted that most small refrigerators are also not very energy efficient compared to their full-sized counterparts so if efficiency is important be sure to look for reliable ratings.
